Wellington City Chorus is Co-Directed by Master Chorus Director David Brooks.
A music teacher by day, David commits a large amount of time to Wellington City Chorus, providing direction, coaching and strategic leadership.
David is notorious through the barbershop community as a 'numbers' man.
He has a passion for analysing scores and predicting wildcards!
Henri was born and bred in Wellington and has always had a love of all types of music. She studied Music and Samoan at Victoria University of Wellington and graduated in 2008. She also played the flute and sat exams to Grade 7 level.
Henri went through high school attending her brothers' (Musical Island Boys) barbershop concerts and in 2002 could no longer sit and watch. She formed her own quartet in 7th form at Wellington Girls' College called Fresh n Fruity, who won the Regional and National YWIH contest in 2002. From there her love of barbershop was born!
She joined Wellington City Chorus in 2003, and began singing with Even Time Quartet who went on to become 7 time National Champions, and had a highest international placing of 12th in Seattle. She sang with them for 10 years and they competed in Detroit, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Seattle, Houston, and Denver.
Henri is the current National Young Women in Harmony Coordinator and when she is not singing, directing, judging or coaching barbershop, she attends her Seventh Day Adventist Church in Taita, runs the Lower Hutt Social Volleyball league and plays indoor netball (when she's not injured lol).
When she's not doing that she works at Compass Health, and manages at Te Aro Health Centre.
