Our Quartets

Fire and Ice

Fire & Ice have been singing together since September 2017 and proudly represent 3 different cities: Henri and Jane E (Wellington), Cat (Christchurch) and Jane M (Hamilton).

This means that rehearsal times, though few in number, are packed with singing, coaching, laughter, learning, eating and more singing! (and maybe more eating)...
Their first contest together in May 2018 saw them come away as the Region 35 Quartet Champions, giving them the honour of representing NZ at the International contest in St Louis October 2018. Ranked last with the lowest scoring qualification score, Fire & Ice managed to work their way up the ranks finishing 23rd overall out of 42 competing quartets, a result that they are very proud of.They love to sing all types of music and are involved with bands, school groups, musical theatre and church.

Revelry Quartet has been singing (and laughing) together for about 10 years. Sharon (tenor), Kaye (bass), Bernadette (lead) and Trish (bari) comprise a medal-winning quartet.

Their aim is to entertain, and they’re drawn to the light-hearted merriment of the “open division”, an additional competition category which was introduced to the Sweet Adelines contest two years ago.  Revelry Quartet won the “open division” in 2015 when they participated in it for the first time.  They will be competing in the open division again in 2019 and their new package further develops some of the personality traits they introduced audiences to in their 2015 performance.

Revelry loves to perform, and is “available for hire”.  To help support their “a cappella habit”, they also offer catering for small to medium private functions, and are available for hire for that too!  When they’re not singing together, they enjoy one another’s cooking, eating out and sharing bottles of wine.

Revelry’s repertoire includes a wide range from popular, easy-listening songs, through to swing, rhythm and blues – they are especially fond of Manhattan Transfer songs with a few ballads thrown in for contrast
